14-17 September
HOMI Fair, Hall 24 C.30
Fiera Milano Rho, Milan

Italian’ness
In the contemporary setting of radical political-social changes, both domestic and international, Italy will continue to reflect on a nostalgic present and an unclear future, continuing to embrace an escapist approach to reality. Cultural heritage will become a core background, in a continuous dialogue between Past and Future. Designers are establishing a new renovated sense of pride which translates into a cultural melting pot, represented by new influences and tendencies that are blending in unexpected ways.

Adaptive Expression
Extreme forms of self-expression and identity will emerge as a powerful form of resistance. If consumers can’t find a box that fits them, they will simply create a new one. People will increasingly celebrate natural flaws, both I identity and in design. This trend explores the values of hedonism, as enabling enjoyable experiences for their own sake will be embraced and open up new areas of relevance for design.

Soft Minimalism
This trend will be a key concept for interiors, where people will want to buy into things that nourish their minds, bodies and lifestyles with quality materials and sustainable systems. Stories, not stuff, will be a main ingredient in the concept of 'economic nutrition’, if we are increasingly able to trace where our food comes from, then why not do the same with objects of design? Slowing down is the new luxury and waiting will begin to be seen as a desirable experience that teach the virtues of stretching memories. Design is becoming a soothing tool, not only to please the eye but to embrace a holistic and spiritual mindset.
